Microneedling with PRP
Microneedling with PRP
Pre & Post Treatment Instructions
Microneedling Pre-Treatment Instructions
- Avoid topical agents that may increase sensitivity: retinoids, topical antibiotics, exfoliants, acids that may dry the skin or irritate it (such as alpha hydroxyl acids (AHAs) and beta hydroxyl acids (BHAs), exfoliating masks, salicylic acids, hydroquinone, and benzoyl peroxide products) 5-7 days prior to the application.
- Ibuprofen, Motrin, or Advil should not be taken for three days before treatment. By using these products, you’re interfering with the natural inflammatory process that maintains your skin’s youthful appearance.
- In the two weeks prior to the procedure, avoid IPL/Laser procedures, unprotected sun exposure, or sunburn.
- No waxing, depilatory creams, or electrolysis for 5-7 days before the treatment
- To avoid skin irritation, do not shave the day of the procedure. You should closely shave the treatment area the day before you arrive at your appointment if dense hair is present. Moles, warts and actinic (solar) keratoses cannot be treated.
- If you tend to get cold sores, take an antiviral agent for two days before and on the day of treatment. If you need a prescription, call us.
- Bruising is a common side effect, especially with PRP injections. Do not take blood thinners (aspirin, fish oil, Omega-3, Vitamin E) for one week before the procedure. You may resume them the following day.
Microneedling Post-Treatment Instructions
- After treatment, do not apply ice, Arnica, or bromelain to your face.
- Do not take any anti-inflammatories for one week, such as Motrin, ibuprofen, or Advil.
- This may interfere with the natural inflammatory processes that are crucial to the rejuvenation of your skin.
- Avoid tanning and prolonged exposure to direct sunlight for at least two weeks.
- Once the 24 hours have passed, you can apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher.
- Apply a good sunscreen every two hours if you are exposed to the sun.
- Use Tylenol only as needed for sore muscles.
- To optimize healing, alternate eating fresh pineapple, tart cherry juice (no sugar), salmon (omega-3 fish oil), bone broth-based soups, and continuing collagen 1 & 3 supplements (Collagen MD Advanced Connective Tissue Support Formula) for two weeks. Sugar, dairy, and wheat should be avoided!
Contraindications
Pregnancy, active infection or inflammation of the skin, skin irritation, cystic acne near the area being treated, keloid scarring, allergies to topical Lidocaine, and sunburn.

PRP injections may cause some minor bruising that may last up to 5-7 days, and swelling may last 2-4 days, depending on how aggressive your treatment is.
- Plan your social calendar accordingly!
- * Avoid vigorous exercises that cause sweating, jacuzzis, saunas, and steam baths for 24 hours to allow pores to close, or up to 48 hours if inflammation occurs.
- You can only use Oxygenetix Make-up post-procedure or Mineral Make-up after 24 hours.
- To minimize swelling or pain, you should sleep on your back with your head elevated.

Day 2-7
Peeling may begin 3-5 days after treatment. Your skin will be dry and flaky. This is caused by an increased turnover of skin cells. Avoid picking, scratching, or scrubbing the treated skin! Your skin should always be moisturized, and you should allow it to flake naturally.

FAQs
How Many Microneedling Treatments Will I Need?
We recommend a series of 3 microneedling treatments spaced about four weeks apart for optimal outcomes for best effectiveness.
When Will I See Results from Microneedling?
- Increasing Collagen Production
- Reducing Fine Lines and Wrinkles
- Tightening and Firming Skin
- Enhancing skin tone and texture
Is Microneedling Safe For All Skin Types?
Microneedling treatments are safe for people of all skin types and colors.
How Does Microneedling Work?
Microneedling boosts the skin’s self-repair process by creating tiny punctures in the skin. These pinpricks stimulate your skin’s natural ability to produce new collagen and elastin fibers. The small holes in the epidermis close very quickly, and the skin starts healing and producing new collagen and elastin.
What Are The Benefits of Microneedling?
- Sun damage
- Age and brown spots
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Stretch marks
- Acne scarring
- Uneven skin tone
- Large pore size
Does Microneedling Hurt?
Before treatment, your skincare specialist will apply a numbing cream. The aesthetician will gently press the microneedling device against your skin at a 90-degree angle. The experience feels like sandpaper or a cat’s tongue. After the numbing cream wears off, it will feel like you have a sunburn. This feeling only lasts for about 24 hours.
