Dermal Fillers Test

Dermal Fillers Test

We all hope to age gracefully, but some changes occur with age that we would like to slow down. Decreases in collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid can leave our faces looking hollow and our skin looking tired, saggy, and wrinkled. Dermal fillers can restore volume lost due to aging.

Collagen and elastin give skin its tautness and elasticity. Hyaluronic acid helps our skin look and feel hydrated, keeping it supple while retaining volume.

Dermal fillers provide a natural and effective way to treat these symptoms while avoiding costlier and more invasive procedures. Dermal fillers restore lost volume while also reintroducing hyaluronic acids so that the body can regain volume over time.

Dermal fillers are made from substances naturally found in the body. Your Skincare specialist will carefully inject the dermal filler into areas where volume loss and skin laxity have occurred during your treatment. The filler treatment restores volume and reintroduces additional hyaluronic acid. Next, the hyaluronic acid attracts water, which further volumizes the skin. Hyaluronic acid continues to boost collagen and elastin production for further skin improvements. Since fillers use naturally-occurring components, they are highly safe and effective.

Pre & Post Treatment Instructions

  • Please avoid all blood-thinning medications and supplements for one week before your appointment to achieve the best results and minimize the chance of bleeding or bruising at the injection site. OTC medications such as aspirin, ibuprofen, Motrin, and Aleve fall into this category. You should also avoid herbal supplements like garlic, vitamin E, Ginko Biloba, St. John’s Wort, and omega-3 capsules. Consult your doctor before stopping the use of aspirin if you have a cardiovascular history.
  • You should tell your provider if you have a history of Perioral Herpes to receive advice regarding antiviral therapy before treatment. (Valtrex 500 mg BID for five days starting two days before treatment).
  • Please avoid topical products such as Tretinoin (Retin-A), retinol, retinoids, glycolic acid, alpha hydroxy acids, or any other type of “anti-aging” products for at least two days before and after your treatment.
  • Avoid consuming alcoholic beverages within 24 hours of your treatment to prevent extra bruising.
  • If you are currently pregnant or breastfeeding, allergic to any of its ingredients, or suffer from any neurological disorders, you should not use dermal fillers.
  • Do not move or massage the treated area unless instructed by the provider.
  • Don’t exercise strenuously for 24 hours.
  • Avoid intense sun or heat for 48-72 hours.
  • Avoid excessive alcohol and salt consumption to prevent excessive swelling.
  • Apply a cool compress every hour for 15 minutes if you have swelling.
  • For discomfort, take Tylenol (acetaminophen).
  • If you experience swelling, try sleeping face up and slightly elevated.
  • For bruising and swelling, take Arnica (found typically in health food stores). Take two days before injections.
  • Wait at least four weeks before undergoing skincare or laser treatments.
  • On average, dermal fillers last between six and twelve months. Your next appointment should be scheduled at the time of your treatment to maximize anti-aging benefits. Swelling, bruising, and some redness are common side effects that will disappear with time. However, please call 360-873-1118 to notify us if you experience any additional side effects.
